I work variously as a photographer, translator (Kannada to English), artist, a facilitator and as an independent researcher. I live and work in Bengaluru, India.

As a photographer I have been working within the genre of the document engaging with social movements over the past few years primarily the farmers’ movement in Karnataka and nationally.

I also freelance as a photography tutor/facilitator having taught as visiting faculty in various colleges in India. The teaching work I have enjoyed most has been with using participatory methodologies (my work with Photovoice/Panos London) primarily because subjects get to tell the stories they want to tell and for me that as a political tool is far more useful.

As a translator I have been working with the writings of Devanoora Mahadeva and other writers writing in Kannda over the past few years and these have been published in various online portals.

As a researcher the broad framework of my research revolves around image based practices. Within that I am interested in representative practices (photography, film, social media); the subject as photographer (citizen journalism, participatory methodologies), truth and representation (War photography) and intersectional analyses (through gender/caste/class/language). My research usually finds an audience in academic/conference spaces.

As an artist I have had exhibitions in India and the UK both independently and with collectives. I have also worked as a curator for an international artist residency.

I also design web spaces for individual artists/exhibitions. You can see my latest work here: https://sufievents.wordpress.com/faith-city-inhabit/
